This Cookie Policy explains how Pickle HK uses cookies and similar browser storage on the Pickle HK website (the “Site”). It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. Cookies can be set by the site you are on (first-party) or by other services embedded in the page (third-party). Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and pixel tags.
2. What we currently use
The Site is a static publication. As of the “Last updated” date, we do not set tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies of any kind. We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other behavioural trackers.
The only browser storage that may exist when you visit:
- Standard browser cache to make the Site load faster on repeat visits.
- Locale preference (potential): if we add a feature that remembers your language choice, it may be stored locally on your device. This is purely functional and not shared with anyone.
- Third-party fonts: when your browser fetches Google Fonts, Google may set technical cookies on its own domain (
fonts.googleapis.com,fonts.gstatic.com). We do not receive or use those cookies.
3. Why this matters
Because we do not run advertising or behavioural analytics, we do not need to display a cookie banner under most legal frameworks (the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, GDPR for EU/UK visitors, and similar laws). If we add tracking technology in the future, we will:
- Update this page and the Privacy Policy.
- Surface a clear notice on the Site.
- Where required, offer a consent control before any non-essential cookies are set.
4. Controlling cookies in your browser
You can manage or delete cookies and local storage at any time using your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.
Blocking all cookies and storage may affect how some sites function, but the Pickle HK Site is designed to work without cookie storage.
5. Do Not Track
We honour the spirit of “Do Not Track” by default — we do not run trackers. We currently do not need to read a DNT signal because there is nothing to opt out of. This may change if we adopt analytics; the updated policy will explain how DNT and similar signals are handled.
6. Changes to this policy
If we adopt analytics, embeds, or features that introduce cookies, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date will reflect the change. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site for a reasonable period.
